Clinton College recently placed first in the inaugural HBCUs of South Carolina IDEATHON sponsored by APL Logistics. The Clinton College team members were Gavin Gabriel (Senior, Religious Studies), Subrina Davis (Senior, Business Administration), Ayanna Anderson (Sophomore, Business Administration), and Kaitlin Stansbarger (Freshman, Business Administration). The team was led by their advisor, Ms. Angela Duckett, Director of Student Support Services.
Hosted by Claflin University, IDEATHON was held in Orangeburg, SC from March 31st-April 1st. IDEATHON is designed for teams to ideate and innovate in addressing an APL Logistics business challenge. The teams were given four challenge questions, and each team chose one to address. The categories were cost analysis, sustainability, and process improvement/productivity. The Clinton College team chose the category of cost analysis.
The teams were judged on the following criteria: innovation, feasibility, impact, sustainability, and presentation. Clinton College made history after winning the inaugural HBCUs of South Carolina IDEATHON. Each member of the winning team will receive a financial award of $1,500.00 from APL Logistics.
Along with the competition, students were able to explore career opportunities with APL Logistics, develop new connections among peers from partner HBCUs, and expand their professional network.
The team will be presenting their award-winning presentation on Thursday, April 20th, at 12:30 pm in the library. This event is open to faculty, staff, students, and the community.
