New Millennium Café is a Hit With Students

September 04, 2019

Renovations come after student leadership meeting with Dr. McCorn

Clinton College’s newly renovated dining hall, New Millennium Café, has been the center of delicious food and fellowship among students, faculty, and staff since the Fall semester began.

The New Millennium Café was revealed just a few weeks ago and students have enjoyed the modern dining experience that boasts a menu that includes homestyle entrees, made-to-order deli sandwiches, oven-baked pizza, and a fresh salad bar. The café also offers vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free and allergen-friendly cuisine for those who have dietary restrictions.

The renovation of the café comes after student leaders met with President Dr. Lester A. McCorn to discuss their need for more options in the dining hall.

“I feel that by me telling him what’s going on and the concerns of the students, it shows that he’s listening. I’m pushing the situation and getting results,” said Student Government Association President Dujuan Boyd.

The café was renovated over the summer and was fully funded by Clinton College’s new dining service partner, Aladdin. Trenna Grice, Director of Business Development at Elior North America, said one of the reasons Aladdin was drawn to Clinton College was because of the college’s commitment to ensuring its students have opportunities to thrive beyond the classroom.

“Aladdin has been an extraordinary partner and the planning and execution of our new dining hall space, said President Dr. Lester A. McCorn. “They bring an excellence in food preparation and service that will benefit our college tremendously. The management and staff of Aladdin represent our mission to serve our campus with ‘Excellence without Excuse.’”

Clinton College and Aladdin have future partnership plans which include:

  • Connect local vendors and businesses with the campus community by creating events and programs like a possible farmers market.
  • Schedule and host cooking demonstrations that showcase local restaurants and chefs as well as student culinarians.
  • Offer health- and nutrition-focused classes for both the College and community throughout the year and educate students, faculty, and staff about healthy local initiatives.
  • Spearhead “Dining for a Cause” contests or food drives to collaboratively and consistently give back to the community.

In addition to a new look, the dining hall hours were also extended. Breakfast opens at 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., lunch is noon to 2 p.m. and dinner is served from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
