Student Support Services

About Us

Student Support Services (SSS), also referred to as A Beacon of Light Scholars Program, is a program under The Beacon Academic Success Center. SSS is a federally funded program designed to assist the needs of the students at Clinton College and guide their paths to success. SSS provides academic assistance and support to participants as they work towards fulfilling their educational requirements in gaining a two-year Associates degree or a four-year bachelor.

Eligibility Requirements

Qualified participants must meet one of the following criteria:

  • Qualify within the federal income guidelines.
  • Neither parent has received a college degree.
  • Have a documented physical or learning disability.

Mission Statement

The Student Support Services program at Clinton College is committed to contributing to the institution's mission as well as its commitment to our participants in increasing college retention and graduation rates for eligible students, increasing the transfer rates of eligible students from our two-year institute to a four-year institute, and to fostering an institutional climate that is supportive of the success of low-income and first-generation college students and individuals with certified disabilities.

Our Vision

The Student Support Services program will empower our participants academically, socially and culturally by providing a positive atmosphere for learning through tutoring and mentoring, through the provision of workshops, through providing assistance in transitioning from a two-year to a four-year institution, through counseling in all areas of student life and through the provision of services for students with disabilities.

Hours of Operation

SSS is located in the Fisher Memorial Building. The hours of operation are as follows:

Monday, Wednesday, & Friday- 8:30am-4:30pm

Tuesday & Thursday- 8:30am-6:30pm
