Clinton College Welcomes Mr. Avery Staley as Vice President for Institutional Advancement
Rock Hill, SC – August 12, 2025 – Clinton College is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Avery Staley as its new Vice President for Institutional Advancement. Mr. Staley brings more than two decades of leadership experience in higher education, public service, and community engagement. In his new role, he will lead the College’s fundraising, alumni relations, corporate partnerships, and strategic communications to strengthen Clinton’s impact and brand.
A Charlotte, North Carolina native, Mr. Staley earned his undergraduate degree from North Carolina Central University, a Master of Liberal Arts from Winthrop University, and a Juris Doctor from Vermont Law School. His career includes service as Campaign Manager for former U.S. Representative Mel Watt, Special Counsel to former North Carolina Lieutenant Governor Walter Dalton, and leadership positions at Livingstone College, Lenoir-Rhyne University, and North Carolina Central University.
Appointed to the North Carolina Internship Council by former Governor Roy Cooper, Mr. Staley currently serves on the Board of Directors for Lutheran Services of the Carolinas. He is a proud member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Incorporated and an active member of Soldiers Memorial AME Zion Church. Guided by his personal mantra, “Never lose for lack of effort,” Mr. Staley is committed to expanding the reach and impact of Clinton College.
